Welcome to Gerdes Turf Farm. We are a local, family owned sod and hydroseeding business in the Xenia – Beavercreek, OH area. We serve a large footprint in the Dayton, OH and surrounding area. We can handle large or small jobs. If you need sod, your lawn hydroseeded or are a ”Do-It-Yourselfer”, we are the company to call. We offer fresh sod pick up at the farm, delivery to your jobsite or installation at your home. We offer grass seed, fertilizer, chemicals as well as programs for the lawn “Do-It-Yourselfers”.

We have a long history in the Dayton, OH and surrounding areas. Very few businesses today are family owned and operated, much less over 100 years old. We have had a Gerdes at the helm of our business since 1913. Lee Gerdes started in 1913. Tom & Tony Gerdes took over the business from their father Lee and purchased sod from a bottle farm. They used a Ryan sod cutter to harvest the sod and hand stacked the sod to make the pallets that were loaded on the trucks for the crews to install. They even delivered Christmas Trees. In 1968, Tom & Tony's original farm purchase was about 200+ acres and was a pig-chicken farm which grew from there. Things have changed quite a bit from when they first started cutting sod. Today, slabs of sod are cut by an automatic harvester and placed on semi- trucks with forklifts. You’ll find Brent Gerdes managing the business and Kevin (Corky) Gerdes estimating jobs.
